Almond Cutout Cookies

Aunt Chick’s Almond Cutout Cookies

If you are a lover of almond flavoring then this recipe is for you. A sweet and simple almond cookie that you can decorate with just some luster dust for coloring or leave it as is. If you really love the flavor of almonds dip some of your cookies in dark chocolate and sprinkle with some crushed almonds. YUM!

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Combine butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and salt.  Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add flour and mix well.  Divide dough in half and wrap in plastic food wrap.  Refrigerate until firm (1 to 2 hours). Heat oven to 350 degrees F.  Rollout dough on a well-floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut into desired shapes and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges is very lightly browned.

For the Sweet Little Angel use Aunt Chick’s Angel Cutter. Decorate her dress with silver luster dust and her hair with gold luster dust by mixing a little vodka to make a luster dust paint.
